At Lightning, we produce all sorts of events, large or small, we pride ourselves on giving each client an efficient, personal service on every event. We are flexible to the demands of changes to your brief and prioritise independence and reliability at all times.

Lightning has worked with many different event managers in the recent past. We quickly adapt to the different ways our clients work, allowing us to really focus on what our clients really need.

Our Team

Established by Tom Foster and Al Hicks, Lightning perfectly balances fresh new ideas with the experience and skill needed to see them through. Both the directors worked for a host of other companies in the events industry previous to launching Lightning Events, allowing a company with a wealth of experience to be established.

Tom Foster

Specialising in lighting, Tom started working in theatres whilst still at school. He then went on to work for Starlight Design as a lighting technician for 5 years. There he ran smaller jobs and got his first taste of the events industry. Tom then went on to work for larger companies including HSL at the O2 arena before establishing Lightning.

Al Hicks

Al has been designing lighting and sets for theatre for 10 years. After working in the events industry in varied roles such as production technician, laying dance floors and erecting marquees he started Lightning with Tom to combine his design expertise, events experience and organisational skills in a young, innovative company.

El Milligan-Manby

El joined Lightning in December 2015 as a production manager but is also responsible for marketing and business development. She spends much of her time out at events and is responsible for ensuring that our clients experience a seamless event. With a degree in event design from Oxford Brookes University and strong experience in the sporting event sector, El is well placed in her role in the event production industry.

Health & Safety

To ensure safety and quality in all of our work, our equipment is regularly serviced and PAT tested by experienced technicians. The pride we take in our events is reflected in our equipment which is nothing less than industry standard.

Our health and safety policies are constantly under review. Each event is treated individually and a risk assessment is carried out before any work commences. Our crew are trained in all aspects of necessary health and safety; we believe this approach is integral to the success of all our events.

Environmental Issues

Our high standards mean our events must always be immaculate. Coupled with the temporary nature of much of our work our events can generate large amounts of material waste. We are well aware of the sustainability issues affecting our industries and endeavour to reuse and recycle materials wherever possible. We have developed partnerships with local schools to take our waste materials for use in arts and crafts.
